Best Organic Plant Based Protein Powder – My Review on Hemp Protein

Are you looking for the best organic plant based protein powder? Lately I have been into the hemp based protein by Manitoba Harvest. If you are looking for the best organic plant based protein powder, I would strongly suggest that you consider one made from raw cold milled organic hemp powder below.

There is so much out there in terms of protein powders but I particularly like to use an organic plant based protein made from hemp because of its rich source in nutrients.

Not only does the hemp protein powder that I use to give me 11g protein per serving, but it also has all 10 essential amino acids, omega-3, omega-6 aka GLA (which can be hard to get), stearidonic acid (SDA), magnesium, fibre, iron, zinc, and phosphorous, and 13 g fibre! It is free from fillers, processed sugars or any additives… every time I make myself a smoothie I feel like I have just filled up on absolute health!

Besides adding it to a smoothie I like to have it in oatmeal and it can be used in baking!

Best Organic Plant Based Protein Powder - My Review on Hemp Protein

I posted a a video on how I use Manitoba Harvey in my oatmeal every morning. I had to do this video twice because the first time (pic above) I was not very organized with the ingredients.

The recipe:

  • 45 g Steel Cut Oats (1 pack, no sugar or flavor just the oats)
  • 2-3 pitted dates chopped up
  • 1 small banana
  • 1 or 2 scoops Hemp Protein
  • 1 or 2 scoops Collagen (I use great lakes can find it here)
  • Water and/or coconut almond milk (or almond milk) You can play with the consistency but I use about 3/4 cup-ish
  • Cinnamon
  • Nutmeg (optional)
  • 100% real maple syrup (optional, I don’t use when I have dates typically)
  • 1 tsp Organic Crunch Peanut Butter

How to make it:

I put a bit of boiling water into the oats and collagen powder until all the water is absorbed… about 3/4 cup. Honestly, I just eyeball it so do a little bit at a time until you reach the consistency you like.

I put the pitted dates and half of the banana and mix inside.

I then add some coconut almond milk (just a splash or so), cinnamon, and nutmeg (just a pinch of nutmeg).

Microwave for 45 seconds or so (depends on your microwave)

Take it out and it should be a thick consistency with the majority of the liquid absorbed. I give it a bit of a stir and add in the hemp protein and then stir it again.

If you want you can add the maple syrup (about 1 tbsp)… I find it sweet enough with the dates and banana personally.

I add the rest of the banana on top with the peanut butter on top of the banana… that’s just how I like it….

ENJOY!

  1. Wow! Nice post about using organic based plant protien. I love the way you itemize the nutritional facts of having those because since I arrived here in the US my husbands sister is educating me aside from my self learning thru reading and watching in youtube in some of the bad ingredients of foods that has bad effects in our body. So by doing that, you are giving your reader a well range of of knowledge about what you are discussing…

    Thumbs up Andrea

    1. Thanks Hanna! Let me know if you are wanting insights on any other foods or products I would be happy to do more posts/fun recipes that are tasty and VERY HEALTHY 🙂

  2. I actually started vegan diet and I have been using Vega protein series for a while. But I will definitely consider Hemp Pro in future. Because when I looked at the ingredient profile, I was amazed.

    1. YUP- no fillers! Vega was too high in sugar for my liking. Adequate though… I do Vega once and awhile. How is the vegan diet going for you and did you start for a specific reason?

  3. I think I like this product. It is organic for starters and you can take it in many ways. I also like the price because the protein powders I use to mess with were outrageously priced. Thanks for introducing me to this product.
