5 tips on How to Increase and Trust Your Intuition

Our intuition is a powerful gift – our magic.

Intuition and the development of intuition is something that I intend to dive in further for 2021.

I am sure you have had hunches- gut feelings if you will- how many times have they turned out to be warning signs?

I have had several accounts of intuition throughout my life that have guided me to where I am now. After discovering a few books in my library that have provoked me to establish further interest in developing my intuition further for 2021 I have been revisiting intuition with more interest.

I also have stumbled across a few “skeptics” in life who logically trying to make sense of it- something that is similar to explain how electricity and the internet are harnessed *extreme eye roll* – this blog is definitely NOT for you if you are one of those people. Just leave now.

I believe in intuition based on my own personal experiences that have had a profound effect on many areas of my life and such experiences cannot be taken away from you once you have them I have had dreams that have brought me greater understanding of people n my life, dreams that have stood out to me that made no sense at all but I intuitively felt like they had a deeper meaning and guided insights through meditations and day-to-day synchronicities.

Although I speak of dreams as my connection into my intuitive self there are other ways that I recognize my own intuition at play- through physical sensations and writing, there seems to be an emphasis for people now to trust their gut more than ever, in times where we are inundated with information on all sorts of topics by all sorts of people, we can not longer just trust in what someone says to be, true.

I have always been a firm believer in filtering out the noise of the outside world in a way that a person seek inwardly for what is their truth- there is no doubt that this will bring you closer to being in alignment with who you are fully – allowing you to tap into your magic, your intuition, and bring you further insights, clarity, trust and discovery of purpose, passions and meaning to everyday life. Truest JOY.

Below are some ways in which you can increase and tap into your powerful gift of knowing. It’s our powerful gift of knowing- how often do you tap into it?

1. Seek to Ask Questions and Discover Answers.

The first step towards connecting deeper with your intuition is to have the intent to connect deeper with your intuition- like anything, the focus which places emphasis on which you desire to create or do will help to bring into your awareness more of which we will be covering in the next points. It is great to also start off with some questions that you have. Also, the power of belief is emphasized here- how can you develop your sixth sense if you don’t want to be open to it in the first place.

2. Intuition Through Dreams

Dream Journal

One of the ways that I learn to connect with myself in a deeper way, seek clarity and increase my intuition is through the use of a dream journal to write down and “decipher” my dreams.

The best way to get started is to set yourself up for success by having a journal next to your bedside – with a pen – and the first thing to do when you wake up in the morning is to write down everything you can remember. At first your dreams might not come to you but give it about a week and you will notice that you will train yourself to start remembering your dreams. Just write them down without judgement at first, and then consider taking my course tapintoyourmagic that will help you to further decipher and clarify what your team meanings are.

Symbol list

Create your own symbol list at the back of your dream journal. This will take time. As you start to record your dreams you may recognize people/places/things that stand out for you that you understand to be a representation for something. There are offerings of dream symbols online however symbols are unique to you so it is good to come up with your own list and follow your own “knowing” to decipher.

Ask Questions/Requests from your Dreams

I recently read a book by Judith Orloff, M.D. “Second Sight” who wrote about her experiences of being both a logical thinking medical doctor and an intuitive, something that her mother and grandmother also had. She recommends whenever she is confused about something in her life or needs further clarity on, she will formalize the process by writing the question down on a piece of paper and placing it by her bedside. This could be incorporated in the dream journal. It might take some patience but eventually the answer comes to her, and her clients. I will be trying this one out in 2021.

3. Learn to Trust Yourself

You hold a lot more power than you likely give yourself credit for. Start listening to your physical sensations, feelings- you know that saying, “trust your gut”? Well it rings true- pay particular attention to any other sensations or common feelings that come up. Learn to take time to “check in” and use visualizations before meeting people to see if you get any feelings- don’t disregard them.

There are even fun “games” you can play, for example, the Guessing Game – start small, the next time your phone rings take a moment to connect with yourself and see if you know who is calling.. how often are you right? Do this for 1 week and see if you start to see an increase in being correct.

Look to see the synchronicities in your life. Pay attention…

4. Meditation

Meditation is a great tool to help quiet the noise of the monkey mind and allow your intuition to come forth. This is an experiential style and different forms of meditation will work for different people. Take time to explore the different meditation styles… as I write this now I realize that I should do a guided meditation on this.

5. Writing

Free writing, automatic writing, poetry- any form of writing can also be used as another form of intuitive guidance. I will further expand on this in future posts but the key thing here is to set yourself up in a ritualistic fashion- so for example a specific quiet area in your space with no disruptions. You can dim the lights and light a candle, you can meditate before you write- anything to get you in a relaxed state. Let the words flow. You may want to wait and review what you write at a later time. See what comes up.

These are just some of the ways that you can work on increasing your intuition, and there will be more on this topic that I will dive into in subsequent posts.

I’d love to hear more about your experiences on the above 5 points. Have you tried any of these? Do you do any of these yourself regularly? What are some other tools that you use to increase your intuition?
